Infectious Diseases and Cancer
The Infectious Diseases and Cancer pillar will explore the critical intersection between infectious diseases and cancer risk. This research pillar focuses on identifying and understanding how various infectious agents, such as viruses, bacteria, and parasites, contribute to the development of cancers. By investigating infections such as HPV, HBV, and HCV, known to be linked to cancers of the cervix, liver, and more, this pillar aims to uncover the biological mechanisms underlying these associations.
The Infectious Diseases and Cancer pillar is led by Dr. Maryam Darvishian and Dr. Sofia Bartlett.
